Pat McGrath

Patrick McGrath - Drums, Vocals, Group manager, Birmingham, England, Age 38

Pat had an early start in his profession, he is now currently playing drums.

Pat started out playing drums at the age of 11 (in Birmingham England), Pat also plays the Bodharan, “this is a Irish drum”

Pat started performing with his father, Pats father is a multi – instrumentalist, and his father continues to play the accordian on the Birmingham Irish scene.

Pat showed an interest at a very young age to learn the drums, he progressed very quickly learning his first instrument, and at the age of 12 he made his first appearance at his local social club with a 7 piece band. All school friends, this band took to the road touring the UK, with Pats father as road manager.

They all were to young too drive. That band lasted 5 years, as they got older everyone had a different direction in which their lives were travelling.

Pat Decided to take up playing guitar as a hobby at first but he has since took his guitar playing to another level. He has covered the UK country music scene inside out, played with numerous bands as a dep musician; he has also managed to squeeze in to his busy schedule teaching guitar, drums, Bass Guitar.

Since Pat has been with his current band “Salt creek” he has managed to add another feather to his cap by learning the keyboards/stage piano.

This instrument has added another dimension to this band a different flavour.

Pat at the moment is building his own studio, which he will begin to produce all band albums in the near future and is aiming to progress further by recording and producing. Pat has taken on the responsible job off managing the band. This can be very challenging but also very rewarding as you can imagine keeping a 5-piece band is not very easy. Pat enjoys the job; he is striving to make Caroline McHugh reach her destination as quick as possible.

Pat picked up an award last year in Denver Usa, this was instrumentalist of the year, and the trophy has pride of place in his office where he spends lots of hard working hours promoting his band Caroline McHugh and Salt Creek.

Pat will be walking around the convention, please come and say hello!

Pat’s favourite artists are; Vince Gill, Brad paisley, Hal Ketchum, Rodney Crowell, Elton John .
