Jamie Lennon
![]() Jamie Lennon - Pedal Steel Guitar - Birmingham, England. Age 28
Jamie started picking on this fine instrument at the tender age of eight. This instrument has to be the most complicated instrument on stage.
Jamie comes from a musical family; he started out performing with his father’s band that also consists of two other siblings. Jamie was made practice his steel every night after his homework by his father, Jamie is and has always been very dedicated to his instrument, which makes him one of the finest steel players in the uk.
Jamie met with Pat on a recording session, Jamie was laying steel down for an album, and Pat played drums. This was to become the beginning of a friendship and an
opportunity for both pat and Jamie to work together. Pat introduced Jamie to Caroline.
Caroline and Pat travelled to Denver in August 2005 to make musical contacts and to, perform with American musicians. Jamie’s dream was to play in America, and after there first trip he asked pat if he could tour with them if another opportunity arose, the following year Jamie’s dream was about to come true because Jamie joined Salt Creek in 2005,and toured the USA in 2006. Jamie has played with show bands from Ireland, Country bands in the UK, and has sat in on recording sessions. Jamie has also played at conventions and jammed with the best steel players to name a few, one being Paul Franklin, “Jamie’s Hero!!”
Jamie has had a custom made Carter steel which has been manufactured in Texas.
Jamie is in the process of purchasing yet another steel to add to his collection a Franklin steel guitar, apparently there are only 27 made per year so he is over the moon with his new baby. Jamie’s style of playing is a new style although he is of course very influenced by Paul Franklin and you can hear his style on occasion but Jamie also can turn on the old swing too. Jamie will be happy to talk to any one that’s interested in steel maybe show you a few tricks too!!
Jamie favourite artists include - Paul Franklin, Mike Johnson, Brent mason, Brad Paisley, Alan Jackson and George Strait
